This Saturday (22 January) the residents of Ealing are invited by ActForEaling for a celebration of the winners of its inaugural climate conscious photography competition.

ActForEaling are a community-led action hub for the borough and there will be a chance to meet team members at the event which takes place between 3pm-6pm on Saturday 22 January at Open Ealing, Unit 14, School Lane, Dickens Yard, W5 2TD.

The team, which was launched in September 20 says that If acting on climate change is one of your 2022 new year’s resolutions, then the #ActForEaling Partners’ Mixer will help you take the first step.

The photography competition judges, including Ealing resident and Strictly Come Dancing celebrity, Mel Giedroyc, had a tough job choosing the winners from the range of entries.

After much deliberation the competition winners are:

Youth Class
Winner: Zachary Avedian
With a special mention going to Leo Ghislanzoni

Adult Class
Winner: Maya Jagger
First runner up: Roly West
Second runner up: Gayle Labib

The winners will receive a private guided tour of Perivale Wood with rangers from the Selborne Society explaining the climate action that is taking place in one of Britain’s oldest private nature reserves.

#ActForEaling aims to celebrate all the climate and environmental action that is taking place in the borough so that residents can learn what they can do to make Ealing a greener and more sustainable community.

In 2022, #ActForEaling says it will continue to try to mobilise and support the borough to adopt climate positive steps as part of Ealing’s journey to reach net zero, restore nature and strengthen biodiversity.

Over the next six months there will be the opportunity to see the #ActForEaling photography exhibition which will showcase the winning photography entries as it tours the borough’s libraries. Everyone in Ealing can also visit the #ActForEaling mural which was painted by the community to inspire #ActForEaling’s 10 practical steps to boost everyday sustainability. This mural was showcased at COP26 to highlight the vital role of local communities in driving action for a more sustainable future.

Masks will be required within the venue. Attendees are asked to take a lateral flow test before attending and to not attend if they have any Covid-19 symptoms.
