The Art Society Ealing is hosting another Special Interest Morning later this month.
The subject of this year's event, which takes place on Wednesday 31 May, is: The Seine - River of Light and home to Impressionism.
This river in France was a great influence on the 19th century French artists and is believed to be key to the development of Impressionism.
It was the estuary, and the many established artists already working there, that first attracted a new wave of artists; then a tiny loop of the river west of Paris became their home, and has since been known as the Cradle of Impressionism.
Carole Petipher’s two lectures will follow the course of the river from the Estuary. In her first lecture she will focus on those who influenced the radical new wave of painters and, in the second lecture, she will deal with the founder members of the Group later to be known as the Impressionists.
It is taking place at St Barnabas Church Hall, Pitshanger Lane, Ealing W5 1QG (free on-street parking, or E2/E9 bus stop in front).
You are asked to arrive at 10am for a 10:30pm start with the event ending at 1.15pm.
Tickets cost £25 which includes two 1-hour lectures with coffee, tea & biscuits.

The Arts Society Ealing belongs to the large umbrella organisation, The Arts Society, previously known as the National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Societies (NADFAS), which was founded in 1968. The local Society, which has a membership of around 140, is now one of the 388 member societies of The Arts Society that have been formed throughout the United Kingdom, in parts of Europe and in Australia and New Zealand.
