The Borough of Ealing Art Trail (BEAT) recently held an online silent auction after having to cancel their annual event due to the coronavirus pandemic.

This was to give the artists who normally participate in the trail a chance to sell some of their work.

The organisers are hailing the event as a success saying they received many positive comments from both artists and bidders. They specifically wanted to thank Jumblebee for its help in organising the auction.

With almost 100 artists taking part, offering 195 pieces of art, a total of sixty five lots were sold meaning that nearly half of the artists made a sale. The final total raised was just over £8,000, including £120 in donations. This meant that BEAT was able to make a donation of £833.80 to the Ealing Food Bank, its chosen charity, as well as raising money for local artists in these difficult times.

A spokesperson for BEAT said, “As a first time experience we are really pleased with the outcome and hope that, although it was obviously no substitute for the real event, it has kept BEAT in the public eye for 2020.

“We will be starting to plan for BEAT 2021 in the next few months and hopefully will be sending out details of the application process and dates by mid-January 2021. Anyone interested in taking part in BEAT 2021 should go to our website and complete the “Interested in 2021” form on the home page.”

BEAT is Ealing’s first ever Art Trail. Its main event normally takes place over two consecutive weekends in September each year and enables the general public to see and buy some of the unique artwork being created by local artists right on their doorstep. It is hoped the situation in 2021 will allow for a full open studios event to happen.

This site remains committed to providing local community news and public interest journalism.

Articles such as the one above are integral to what we do. We aim to feature as much as possible on local societies, charities based in the area, fundraising efforts by residents, community-based initiatives and even helping people find missing pets.
