Extra Performance Added after The Ealing Club Sells Out

Dramatisation of the birth of British Blues being staged at The Questors

Questors has added another performance of Julian Smith’s The Ealing Club after the available seats quickly sold out.

The story of how British Rock and Roll was born in a small venue in the centre of town proved hugely popular so an extra show has been added at 2.30pm on Saturday 29 October.

The world premiere of the production is running in the Studio Theatre from 21 – 29 October.

Just below the ABC Teashop opposite Ealing Broadway tube, a revolution is taking place. Out of the cold, grey winter of 1962 comes the wild amplification of electric guitars and Chicago heat. Five young people make their way down a set of dark, narrow steps into the Ealing Club, an escape from their beige lives - the birthplace of British Blues.

It is described as a tale of bending notes, falling in love and almost being there for the birth of The Rolling Stones. Written by Julian Smith, in collaboration with the Ealing Club and part of the 60 year anniversary of The Rolling Stones first gig.

Allistair Young of the Ealing Club said,“The play is an exciting collaboration as it conveys local connections to an international story of musicians such as the Rolling Stones that went on to shape Rock “n” Roll having started off just down the road from Questors Theatre.

"The play showcases the narrative of 'Ealing Blues Club' while illustrating the spirit of the young people who were the first followers of groups such as The Stones, The Who, Manfred Mann & even customers of what would become Marshall Amplification.”

After each show there will be a post-show band playing in the Studio, courtesy of The Ealing Club.

There will be a socially distanced performance on Sunday 23 October at 2.30pm.
