A new play retelling the story of the warrior queen who battled Roman occupation is being staged at The Questors.
The action-packed production of Boudica written by Tristan Bernays aims to appeal to fans of both Game of Thrones and Shakespeare.
Exploring one of the nation’s great female icons, this is an epic tale of power struggles and bloody battles. A fractured Britannia cowers under Roman occupation. The King of the Iceni tribe has died and his widow, Boudica, is denied her rightful kingdom. Flogged, banished, her daughters raped, Boudica returns with an army to unite the tribes against tyranny. Britain’s rebel warrior is out for revenge as a queen – and as a mother.
This production places women at the centre of the action and the amateur cast are currently working with a professional fight director to bring a series of epic battles to the stage.
It is being staged from Friday 2 May to Saturday 10 May in the Judi Dench Playhouse with performances at 7.45pm except on Sunday 4 May when the play begins at 2:30pm and Monday 5 May when there is no show. The captioned performance takes place on Thursday 8 May. For using the captioning units, The Questors recommends booking in the central sections towards the back for the best view.
The play contains strong language and violence but is deemed suitable for ages 14 and above.
Tickets cost from £10 - £24.
