A leading chamber choir is to perform at St. Stephen’s Church in Ealing in aid of Christian Aid week later this month.

The concert by Coro West London will be followed by tea and cakes, to help raise money for farming communities recovering from Cyclone Freddy. People in Malawi are paying a harsh price for the global cost of living and climate crises.

Coro West London perform classical music from all eras and this performance will include: Viva La Musica (Michael Praetorius), Ave Verum Corpus (Ben Parry), Ave Maris Stella (Grieg), Faire is the Heaven (William Harris); God is Gone Up (William Croft); Jubilate Deo (G Gabrieli); 4 Folk Songs (Traditional), I carry your heart (Toby Young) and finish with God Save the King (arranged Paul Ayres). The choir will be choir conducted by Helen Vickery.

Admission to the event at 3pm on Sunday 21 May is free but donations are appreciated.

Concert organiser, Sue Charlton, said, “Come and enjoy an afternoon of wonderful music at St Stephen’s, with tea and cakes. The choir will sing acapella, directed by Helen Vickery, a professional musician and past choir director at St. Stephen's.

“All proceeds will be for the work of Christian Aid, to help make a real difference for our global neighbours. After the damage caused by Cyclone Freddy, the need for assistance is greater than ever.

“We decided to host the concert because it’s a lovely way to share what we enjoy with others and to give hope to those in desperate need throughout the world.”

From May 14-20, Christian Aid supporters are doing all kinds of things to raise money and make a difference in places where severe weather has ruined crops and middlemen have taken hard-earned profits from those trying to farm the land.

St Stephen’s Church is at St Stephen’s Road, Ealing W13 8HB.
