Brentford Market Place Pavement

As the new area takes shape it is starting to look pretty neat. However I have doubts about two parts of the design.The new pavements bordering Tallow Road don't seem to have dropped kerbs, not great if you have a pram to push or are on a mobility scooter. A better choice might have been a raised area joining the two sides of the road and giving pedestrians better priority.The kerb-stones themselves seem excessively high and have very sharp corners in comparison to the stones that they replace. Today I picked up several large chunks of tyre from outside the ex-opticians. The drivers involved may not be aware that their tyres are badly damaged.I don't know the details of the plan, these observations are made on the work so far.

You want to see things taking a long time? Hopeless Homes useless contractors have been working on a house near me for months. God alone knows what the hell they're doing, but a builder in Whitton has converted a plot into two homes and made a super job of them since this work by HH started!!!

I tend to agree with Chris. The pavements look very high...it also seems to be taking ages for them to complete this work.

I think it looks really rather good so far.Which makes a welcome change.As road levels and surfaces are not yet complete it's a bit hard to judge.Modern kerbstones do though have nasty hard edges. This is something that the victorians eliminated with granite kerbstones that had the edges feathered.Another simple effective solution consigned to the annals of time!The tarmac areas would have been nicer if they had used green tarmac, or maybe the tarmac is temporary.But in the main looks very good and durable.  Time will tell.Choice of colours and the benches etc look good but I fear will look a but duff when weathered.Hopefully they will be sealed with a colour protecting sealer.Yet again, seems like a heck of a lot of money for such a small project.Walpole Park in Ealing seems to be the same, a lot of money for a modest end result.Seems to be the norm for local authorities and the NHS etc. They pay through the nose for contracts and yet seldom get a top quality result or even a 10 year warranty on the works.

I see that the road level has risen to meet the undropped kerbs at Tallow Road, so a level crossing has been achieved.
