Stupid bus drivers?

The tens of thousands spent on nice ‘off street’ Bus Stops yet some (many) bus drivers don’t pull into them properly so that traffic can pass safely. Is this because the bus drivers are simply thick, or untrained or playing power games by being extremely selfish.  Accidents waiting to happen. There are enough cameras around ready to fine motorists for encroaching bus lanes and bus stops. Why can’t these cameras be used to fine the bus drivers and bus companies heavily for such traffic violations and selfish behaviour?

"I think if you look online you will see that TfL has specific guidelines for the design and layout of bus stops so that they are in line with access requirements."I haven't been on TfL's website but this would seem to indicate that the design is OK but bus drivers haven't been trained to use the stops responsibly or are behaving without too much concern for other road users.

I think if you look online you will see that TfL has specific guidelines for the design and layout of bus stops so that they are in line with access requirements. I doubt that Hounslow Highways has much say.

Thanks for the info Eileen. I guess the question is who designed these Stops so badly? I take it you are suggesting that there was no co-ordination between Hounslow Highways and the Bus Companies when designing these Bus Stops?

As a former BUS DRIVER some of the bus stops have been designed badly.  Sometimes it is just not possible to get into the recess easily and don't forget the buses front wheels are set back to allow for the entrance to be lowered for those in need.  As a consequence bus drivers have to be careful that they don't 'ground' the N/S/F which would mean that the bus would have to be taken off the road and the service curtailed.
