Does CPZ increase property values?
I've written to our local Councillors yet again about the thorny subject of CPZ on Whitestile Road. Since we moved here over a decade ago, parking has never been easy on our street, but since controlled parking was introduced on Avenue, Enfiled and other neighbouring roads last Autumn, it is nigh on impossible to find a parking space on Whitestile Road, day, night OR weekend. I've been wondering how this might affect prospective buyers viewing a house on this street, who might be instantly put off by the lack of parking spaces nearby. An informal survey of the Zoopla property comparison site seems to confirm my suspicion. Whitestile's average property value (£434,523) is considerably lower than Avenue Road (£549,858) and Darwin Road (£501,814) and is even lower than Enfield Road (£446,931) which has arguably smaller properties. Does anyone out there have any data to support or dispell this suspicion that CPZ increases house values? And does anyone share my frustration that one year on, parking on Whitestile Road remains unresolved.
