Thankfully the postponed Memorial Service, commemorating the start of World War 1, took place this morning and was blessed with fine weather and sunshine.Some 70-80 persons attended in the presence of Maria Pedro Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Greater London, Steve Curran the Mayor of Hounslow, and Mary Macleod MP.We were welcomed by Officers of the Brentford branch of the British Legion and Sarah Porter (Poppy Appeal Secretary) read a poem entitled "A thrush in the trenches".The Last Post was sounded followed bu 2 minutes silence and then Reveille.
