Hi, Anyone know the most eco friendly way of getting rid of them? I assume charity shops are no longer interested?

I hear now that they no longer take these at Charing Cross Hospital League of Friends shop. :( It was good news that someone took some on Freegle recently. The problem is that those who still use them (quite often those who find swift changing technology more difficult to grasp) may be those who can't use technology to find them!

The last time I went to Charing Cross Hospital the League of Friends shop were also taking these. They do have to be pre-recorded.

Academic but thanks I shall not offer Oxfam any further goods when there are more 'personable' charities more deserving of my donations. As example, I called BHF to collect some furniture this afternoon, politeness personified and even gave me the number of another charity who would accept an item that they would not.

I phoned the Ealing Audio shop, Ealing Broadway just now and they no longer take videos. They happily took some unused (packaged) blank videos from me only about a year ago but the situation has obviously changed since then.

Are you referring to the Oxfam shop as recommended in this thread? I don't think other Oxfam shops do take them. The member of staff/volunteer wherever you went should not of course have been rude to you but why turn your back on Oxfam because of one unpleasant encounter? I will try to phone tomorrow to check whether the Oxfam Audio shop still takes videos.

Damn, if I get any more children's video I now know where to take them - thanks.I have to repeat though that NO charity shop Ealing will take them and Oxfam can basically 'do one' as the member of staff/volunteer I encountered treated my offer of mint tapes (some were new boxed sets) with derision when I offered them to them. At least the people at Cancer Research/ BHF were pleasant when declining them.

If you have children's videos then West Middx Hospital will take them for their children's wards which still have the mobile TV+VCR units.

Thanks Anne, I'll phone them.

Yes - just googled it. Oxfam Music and Audio, 23 The Green, EalingPhone: (020) 8810 1932It still says 'videos' on their blurb but it would probably be best to phone and check.

Thanks Anne, yes I think you mean in The Green, just a few yards south of Ealing Broadway in the Uxbridge Road. Its useful to know about Oxfam 'cos we've several old VCR's, tapes and records to give up.
I mean the ones in Ealing Broadway heading down from the main shopping precinct towards Brentford (a bit further on from where the main post office used to be if you know where that is and near a 65 bus stop). Sorry, I can't remember the name of the actual road.
Do you mean the two Oxfam shops in The Green W5, rather than in Ealing Broadway please?
Try Oxfam Records, Ealing Broadway, just down from the Oxfam book shop. They certainly took these items up to a couple of years ago so it is worth phoning them to find out.
Sadly you aright Steve. When my daughter moved out I tried 'hawking' among every charity shop in Ealing with not takers. No interest on freecycle. These were Disney and family film but, no takers.Luckily, someone on the Ealing forum told me about the video tape recycling facility at Greenford Recycling Centre. That's where they ended up.
