That should be a busy event this weekend with "Wembley Stadium" sized crowds flocking into the Brentford park. Are you ready for the fun?

Quietest Mela ever. ... Unless I'm going deaf.

I went to the mela today with family. Got there early, had a good nose at the stalls and straight over to have authentic Indian food. I had chilli mogo (casava) which wasn't as spicy as i imagined. Next time I will take some chilli powder and sprinkle on top. Plenty of music coming out from the BBC Asian Network stage but I had no clue who was performing this year. I definitely recommend people to go next year.

When you're stuck in a traffic jam on the A4, all you really see is the entrance, but from the photo it looks as if it has its arms round a central courtyard, protecting it.

I like the building and am surprised to see what Susan has highlighted.
I think it may be more visually pleasing if the colour of it was a little brighter and not the hideous brown that it is. It wouldn't surprise me if the same bloke designed the new foul coloured monolithic looking flat block on the western side of the canal at Brentford.

I think I like it, on balance.
'Unusual' is one way of describing it. Makes one wonder what the architect was on at the time and how it ever got past the planning stage.
Never seen that middle building on the GWR from that angle before. Very unusual design.
In the past it has looked like this(from the air)....(a colourful, noisy and tasty event no doubt!)
Weather's looking about right. To be fair, the traffic is much better managed than it was a few years ago when the Mela would cause something very close to gridlock every year, but I would still avoid it if you can.

I'll second that! The traffic trying to get out of the park at the end is always horrendous. At least they've reopened the Ealing Road end of Popes Lane to two-way traffic temporarily so it won't quite be the nightmare we'd been fearing. Hope the weather stays fine - enjoy!

We've never been to the Mela at Gunnersbury, despite living in Ealing for ages - we've heard the food stalls are great - we'll be there, thanks for reminding us.

I recommend that people try to come on foot or by public transport to avoid the long queues of cars.
If it doesn't rain I will go and check out the food stalls. I am not too fussed about the music but the food is good.
