With today's easterly winds...and eastward bound takeoffs...all day from what my ears tell me, I feel indignant that another newsletter has arrived on my doormat suggesting that I might wish their noisy activities to continue."To residents living near Heathrow Airport""GROW or DECLINE?""Have your say on what happens to Heathrow Airport"Haven't we already told them NO?So why won't they accept that?

No - I think it is the weather that gives us the respite - the current lot of trials are irrelevant. However, I am very supportive of the good suffering people of Teddington who have had the trial thrust upon them in, I think, a very underhand manner with no consultation.A similar trial for the DET departure was originally planned (but I think has now been pulled) and that could easily have nudged the path over South Isleworth. The bit that used to be in the Guidance to CAA on Environmental Objectives that said they shouldn't try to route take-off paths in the same places that endured landing approaches has been scrubbed in the latest issue. Possibilities of nasty things happening remain.......

Thanks Tim. So if I understand you correctly, we, if were are to be a tad selfish, shouldn't really support the good people of Teddington if it gives us, and the good people of Richmond, some temporary respite.
Yes - but it is the same relief we would get on any extended period of easterly operations. The trial is not affecting it with landings taking place over Windsor. Wind forecasts suggest they may be back on westerlies for a bit tomorrow afternoon with the proper return to normal service in the middle of next week.BBC Surrey had bits in their breakfast programme today from residents upset by new flightpath trials over Bagshot. They claimed it was being done to give relief to Richmond (I do not think that is correct). They also had Matt Gorman (Sustainability Director at Heathrow) being interviewed. He said the trials were being done at the request of the government !
Is this Teddington trial producing some temporary relief for Brentford?
"You can say NO NO NO as much as you like...but we want to grow!"

Teddington isn't happy having a new concentrated flightpath trial thrust on them and having an extended period of easterlies :https://www.change.org/p/community-communications-officer-stop-the-heathrow-airport-easterly-departure-routes-trial-and-not-make-the-changes-permanentIt's got nearly 2000 signatures in 24 hours !
