Here we go again

The reminder letters for the Rugby Match Day CPZ passes are being sent out to addresses in Isleworth and, once again, residents are being asked by the London Borough of Hounslow for money for these passes when the scheme is in fact free of charge, being financed by the Rugby Football Union.Would any of the Isleworth ward councillors like to take this up please?  Vanessa will be able to give you the whole story as she was involved in the discussion on this forum when the same thing happened last year iirc.Thanks.

Ed's your man then, I think last year they did return any monies, only after the fuss. I personally wouldn't send money for something that had hitherto been free for years in any case not without querying it anyway.

Grateful for your help on this Vanessa and it's good to have somebody on here with access to the councillors so that these matters might be swiftly progressed.Assuming what Ed says is correct, I would still contend that the letters are misleading.  As this is a free CPZ I don't see why people should have to turn to the small print on the back page to have this confirmed and I would be interested to know whether anyone has sent money off in error and, if so, whether it is the local authority's policy to return it without having to be prompted or threatened.

Have had a very swift reply from Cllr. Ed Mayne who has also e-mailed me a copy of the permit application/renewal form being sent out. At the bottom of the reverse side there is a scale of charges and the first line does say Rugby zone - Free. Also there is no admin. charge as there is for other CPZs. If anyone has received one of the old forms that doesn't have this information on it, could they please let Ed have them, or if they can, scan in the form and e-mail it to him. Ed is on leave at the moment but will pick this up next week on his return.ed.mayne@hounslow.go.uk I am grateful to Ed for dealing with this so speedily.

By the end of the year there will be a CPZ around Griffin Park that includes 2:30 to 3:30 on Saturday matchdays.

Why are Brentford FC not doing the same around Griffin Park and picking up the added cost soon to be imposed on long suffering residents?

Thanks Vanessa.  Councillor Dennison will also appreciate, I'm sure, that no matter how stupid the contractors may be there is clearly something also lacking with those whose responsibility it is to oversee their work.

I contacted Ed Mayne who dealt with this last year, unfortunately he's on leave at the moment, so as Cllr. Dennison seems to be the councillor responsible for 'engaging' with resident's issues I've e-mailed him and asked him to look into the crass stupidity of the contractors responsible for this cock-up.

It is unbelievable that the plonkers in charge of issuing these passes are incapable of having one application form that has an addendum printed on it saying that the RFU Match Day CPZ is free of charge. I think I also made the point that this it is stupid that this has gone from getting a two yearly permit to a one year, p***ing in the wind springs to mind!
