Hounslow Homes Incompetence!!

Since December 23rd 2013 a Leaking Roof which has been reported each time there has been heavy rain because it is leaking inside the home!obviously causing water damage after approx 12 different visits including Managers,Surveyors & numerous workmen who have all visited the Roof which has been photographed many times.Incidentally this Roof was supposed to be Refurbished in 2010 unfortunately it didn't happen.Wonder why??Anyway back to the Leaking Roof Saga.finally a decision that it was the Water Tower that was causing the Leak which has allegedly been fixed on several occasions,why then are the leaks still happening in the same places.Another Phone call yesterday making another complaint resulted in a message saying that an Asset Manager would be visiting.Does anyone know what an Asset Manager does & why is he coming to inspect an Hounslow Homes Roof.When what is really required are Roofers who are Tradesmen not Cowboys to fix the Roof in question.

You should see the work their contractors have just done on my neighbour's house. Apart from the fact there were so many people there at times they could have re-surfaced the M1, they took five days to do the most appalling job that should have taken two people two days, a bloody joke!

LBH are said to be taking HH back in house,then with all good intentions I would suggest they take a look at any Suspense A/C floating around HH.With today's Technology suspense accounts are unnecessary.Any Audit I participated in always started there,you would be surprised at what you can & might find, go back 7 years!!

From the front page here:-  "Hounslow Homes manages about 16,500 properties across the borough, from rents to repairs, and employs about 600 staff who will now transfer to the Council."  Let us all hope that none of these transferred staff are connected to any wrong doings at Hounslow Homes!

I do tend to agree with you Vanessa when you take something back in house,you generally ensure that that staff will be both efficient & effective with good customer service skills.

It's not just Hounslow Homes that is p***poor. A2 Dominion a 'favoured ' HA by Hounslow seem to have more than a few key politicians in their pockets.They are equally appalling in their treatment of rent paying tenants and managed residentsYet despite all the hot air from local politicians, they choose to run off and duck the issues.Too many close links between contactors and councillors and council officers and a degree of evasivenees and secrecy is not a good thing.Ordianry people are having quite miserable lives because of this mix of corruption, incompetence and clandestine deals.Hounslow council needs to get a grip and have a full open investigation into Housing Associations and the 'deals' they get and the treatment of tenantsas well as the shenanigans at Hounlow homes.Preferably by an independent body or even the Fraud Squad.

Also you should kick up a fuss with your local councillors - they all hold regular surgeries and all are contactable by e-mail. I have just acted on behalf of my son's friend who was also getting the runaround from Hopeless Homes. Her neighbour had been trying to get something done about the huge diseased trees on the border of the two properties since 2012. The housing officer was unhelpful, uncaring and generally un-cooperative - all HH wanted to do was pass the buck. Even Hounslow Highways - another useless bunch, were involved - although we couldn't find out why, all they did was write a 'sod-off' letter that was an insult. It had the name and address both wrong, the location wrong and no contact details for 'phone or e-mail, an utter disgrace. Having contacted Cllrs. Linda Green and also Theo Dennison the matter has been resolved in a matter of weeks.

sorry to hear you've had this experience...but at least I know Im not in the same boat! we have had exactly the same....leaky ceiling from above. Reported in Jan, but it looks like it was leaking for 3 years and kept being reported by previous tenants, and HH did absolutely nothing. We had no use of 1 of our bedrooms...took them til AUGUST to finally fix it. had so many people round, including a useless contractor they got in becuase they didn't have enough people in their repair team. All of them did virtually nothing til I threatened legal action. I wish you luck! we've finally got our ceiling sorted but no compensation for the huge amount we had to pay out to move into temporary accomodation while the flat was unlivable....my advice would be to complain, then take it to level 2 complaint if you get no response. Then threaten to take it to level 3 complaint, email chief executive, and threaten legal action....

See Hounslow Homes a.k.a. Hopeless Homes are going back 'in-house' very shortly. Thought the piece which talks about them 'managing' the council's housing stock was a hoot. In my experience they couldn't manage their way out of a paper bag, a contradiction in terms if ever there was one. If I were them I'd take a good look at some of the employees before transferring them over - some of them just can't be arsed.
