Victoria Wharf

Looking for this location in Brentford if anyone can help, relatives settled here at 4 Victoria Wharf (backing onto the thames from what Nan said) she came off the Narrowboats around 1930, Nans father a Thomas Townsend and mother Mary Ann nee Webb worked for Fellows Morton & Clayton that ran up and down the Grand Union between Bugbrooke and Brentford.

I hadn't heard of Budbrooke before Ricardo...but here it is on the map near Northampton...(the UK's shoemaking centre?)

Thank you Ann and Jim for your information much appreciated. The boat in question rings a bell Nan used to say her mum Mary Ann Webb and her sis Eliza Webb (Nanny Webb) used to be on a boat called the President and one called Ted not sure if this is the same narrowboat though could be! she used to transport coal, wheat and even chocolate up and down the Grand Union Canal.

At the Kew Bridge end of Waterman's Park, and on the Riverbank, there is a gated community (believed to be Canalboats) with the address "Victoria Steps".I believe the address there is 7 High Street with a  busy pub close by.

If you take a look at this page http://www.bhsproject.co.uk/section1.shtml it says 4 High Street was also known as 4 Victoria Wharf - seems the names were interchangeable. Even if the original house isn't there any more, you should be able to pinpoint where it was on the current High Street...
