OVERCHARGEd by THAMES WATER??

Since my latest Water Bill showed an increase of 50% on previous bills I challenged it. A new bill arrived today, considerably less, after they had re-read the metre: the original bill had a metre reading of 2774: the replacement bill had a metre reading, taken a month later, of 2738. Some mistake! Anyone else had a similar experience? In other words, is this a one-off occurrence or a systemic approach by Thames Water?

I don't think so Jim otherwise the re-read taken a month later would not have been less. My original bill is definitely an  'error'-I just wanted to see if anyone else had had a similar 'error' which might reveal intent. If the error was deliberate and repeated many times the company would benefit by having revenue in their bank account several months early.

If you have a meter it's advisable to check the reading when you get the bill - if it is exceptionally high you may have a leak.JL.

The original bill says not. If it had been an Estimate that would have bEen understandable. A supposed actual Reading if replicated elsewhere would be a different matter
