Nigel two big things

I see from today's news that UKIP leader Nigel Farage has given the okay for women to feed their babies from the breast in public, just so long as they do not make an "ostentatious display" of it.What is it about this party and breastfeeding?

I notice a massive sense of 'entitlement' these days from women -- especially rich, posh women like the one at Claridges -- who happen to have had a baby - something our ancestors have been doing since they came out of the oceans.You have only to look at them pushing their oversized buggies along the pavement and expecting everyone else to leap out of their way. Or refusing to move their buggies on the bus to allow a wheelchair to board, as happened recently.

"Just what is the right amount of covering up to satisfy these people?"I'd say women should model their covering up on what Nigel's mum did in 1958 (including wearing rubber gloves whilst cleaning behind the fridge)

Seems UKIPpers want breastfeeding women to cover up more and some Muslim women to cover up less.  Just what is the right amount of covering up to satisfy these people?

Susan - that's what I'd personally do, obviously no direct experience of breast feeding, ie find a very quiet corner or not go out if in doubt. However, I think it is the mother's right to choose. A few weeks ago my girlfriend and I were at the Pain Quotidien in Chiswick when a woman was breast feeding at the next table. I didn't find it offensive, but fretted about letting my gaze wander!

Why doesn't someone throw a towel over Farage when he appears in public? - To me he's ten times more offensive than anyone feeding their baby. The man is a prat of the highest order.

His comments seemed perfectly reasonable to me. Why would you not breastfeed 'discreetly'? Do you really want saddoes gawping at you?
