The shop has been closed for some months now. From the Isleworth Society newsletter:Protracted summer closure of T. Taylor & Son hardware shop, brought forth thankfully unfounded fears of this becoming permanent, which would have been a huge loss to South Street. Jonathan Taylor started this business in 1885 renting 41 South Street. While living there, their son Tom, after whom the business was named, was born. Around 1895 four shops were built on an old nursery site at the Algar Road junction, officially called 1–4 The Pavement. Jonathan acquired and moved the business to No. l, with Tom enlarging the premises by incorporating No. 2 in 1926. It was sold out of family hands to Cecil Pyle by 80 year old Norman Taylor, grandson of the founder, in 1997. At the time he claimed “we are the oldest established business in Isleworth, only the Duke of Northumberland’s has been here longer”.
