St Johns school

Brentford FC have a DVD on you tube 125 year anniversary at 3min 22sec it shows the ground as it first was in 1904 one stand and 3 raised banks. At the Cliffton road end I cant see any roads. Their is a building that looks like my old school St Johns but its in the wrong place in relation to the goal posts on the pithch. The school was built in 1901, 3 years before Brenford moved to Griffin park so it must be there. Any views? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7tnm3dEHWbQ

Sorry been away,Yes That's the School I can see it in Jims Photo, but i don't understand why its not on that video if it was built 3 years before Brentford moved to Griffin Park.

Liam are you talking about the Roman Catholic school where a lot of the teachers were Nuns?I can see it in Jim’s Photo the Building on the corner of the road on the extreme right hand side of the photo and in the middle of the photo top to bottom

A great video.It was a joy to see Ken Horne (2.42) after all these years. He used be a near neighbour in Osterley in the 1970s... and as he tended his flower display at the front of his bungalow he alwayschad time to say a few words.So...he's now in his late 80s but looking well.Many thanks for introducing that video to the Forum... there are many special scenes to be enjoyed. The trolleybus picture raised an eyebrow.Where was that 657 passing by?. Magnifying glass revealed it was a 649... somewhere else in London.

Thanks Jim, but if the ground was built in 1904 and the school was built in 1901 where is the school on the youtube video , I cant see it or the road.

Hope this helps for starters. There have been lots of posts about St John's over years.The large building to the right on the YouTube video could well be the old laundry... that later became a cardboard packaging company... later the sight of the current gated estate.
