I was lucky enough to have a tour of the Brompton factory last year.Interestingly WB-A said his main challenges were finding a larger factory site round here (he is really keen to carry on manufacturing in Brentford) and finding sufficient engineers.Yesterday there was a column in the Grauniad by James Dyson, which said very similar things about the shortage of engineers and bemoaned a change of policy from Theresa May which is to make non-EU engineering graduates go home then apply for a visa: currently they have (I believe) 4 months to find an employer to sponsor them to stay which he says is already uncompetitive with the likes of the USA and Australia which allow 12 months. Whilst most of Dyson's engineering is in the UK he is locating some of his 3000 new jobs in Singapore, apparently because it's too hard to recruit here. Of course that recruitment is doubly difficult in London (Will said he liked engineers who were partnered to corporate lawyers, doctors etc and could therefore afford to live near Brentford)
