Loft Conversion Experience / Recommendations?

Hi All -Am starting to think about planning a loft conversion (terrace house, York Rd) over the summer - and would like to hear from anyone in Brentford who can either recommend (from personal experience) an outfit that has done a good job of loft conversions in the area, or has views on use of a local builder vs. 'design & build' specialist loft company..  Particularly interested in feedback from local work done during the last few years.Also - if you've been through the process already - what would you do differently second time round?I'll check the Services bit too, but there don't seem to already be any threads on this topic in TW8 forum (although I've read the ones on W4 forum where there are a few).Many thanks, Tony

No, the only thing that grates on me is that generally speaking Joe Public is very quick to make comments and unsubstantiated accusations about developers and the Council, yet matters like this seem to go completely unnoticed on our front doorsteps and the local media actually gives them a nice promotional piece in the paper.So much for consistency...

Agreed Adam.Very dodgy indeed. Council should close it immediately. O'Dea website gives company address as 1B Layton Road.Companies House shows O'Dea builders as being in Riverside Walk Isleworth.Also shows Goocfillas is run by a younger female Odea, daughter probably.Oh dear.

Of course, your post just jogged my memory as I saw the newspaper article about Goodfillas afew weeks back, having always driven past and thought "I bet that hasn't got planning permission".

no idea about any of that adam, I was just commenting on the quality of work, price and how easy they were to deal with having done work on two properties for us

Hmmm, that would be the O'Dea that operates from the same address as Goodfillas sandwich bar (which occupies the detached building in the back garden with a frontage on Ealing Road) which was recently lauded in the local press for celebrating its first birthday despite planning permission for the then proposed sandwich bar being refused last year ?!.Nothing personal against Goodfillas, never been in there and I'm sure they do very well, but unless there was an appeal which overturned that refusal (which I did look for and couldn't find, but if it does exist then clearly I'm wrong and I stand corrected) the shop is completely unauthorised and really LBH should be doing something about it.Obviously I'm in the business (town planning that is) but  speaking as a local resident I'd be worried about going to someone to do an extension to my property if they were associated with unauthorised goings on !.

Try Heritage Restoration and Loft Conversion - a Brentford based company in fact. I haven't had a loft done by them but the sash windows they made and fitted for me twenty-five years plus ago still look good and are going strong.Contact: Ed Davidge (020) 8560 1264 or 07734599400

No sorry haven't got one. But our neighbours are having some work done by a company called Lindum Lofts who seem to do a quite a lot around the area. I'm sure you can Google them.
