Watermans to move to Police Station site.....

See front page story..... or rather reprint of a breathless press release with 'good news' about Watermans and riverside path...... but no mention about plans for the Police station tower block........ Also the Ballymore scheme was due to house Watermans. What will happen to this space now its not needed? Hopefully another project of benefit to the community, rather than more shops or residential......

David the first of the new developments to finish has a good riverside walk (though the transition from Ferry Lane is slightly messy) and the other one also has a walkway but it hasn't been opened yet. But then I guess you hit the Max Factor office block and have to come away again.Certainly I think it should be (and I think it is) a priority to have a decent riverside path, and the path down opposite Morrisons is now going to be upgraded and brought into maintenance.Personally I think the Ballymore development would be a much better location for Watermans - and for Brentford, helping to give the town centre some a focal point - but my impression is that the cop shop site is more viable financially.

What is very worrying is the amount of properties in London being bought by foreign investors. I confess to watching 'Homes under the Hammer' and on three programmes last week there were agents buying residential property for people in Saudi, thereby constantly pushing prices up for ordinary Londoners whether they wish to rent or buy. On the larger scale much of this 'investment' is a cover for money laundering. You can't just go to another country and start doing this sort of thing, just try it in the States or Oz, it's way past time the government stopped all this and put people here first. But then Boris is a leader in the selling off of London to anyone with the dosh.

I just hope they create a decent walk way along the river....right now you have to go up and down...which makes no sense...i hope planner consider that....right now the two new builds next to waterman has no proper walk way...you need to go back to the high street and back down.......

Does Brentford really needs any more housing.  Very soon the only thing we will see is the sky only if we look up.  I suppose they will call the Marina KEW Marina.  Really what is happening to Brentford.  Do we really exist.

It's such a PR written spiel that it's obvious that yet again the Council regeneration officer and his cronies have done a deal with ££££s over common sense and putting residents first.No mention of the fact that these will be huge blocks blocking the view of the river and Kew forever apart from the wealthy who will have the riverside apartments.No mention of the displaced houseboat dwellers who will be replaced by exclusive marina for the toys of the wealthy.Yet again Cllr Curran is trying to fit a quart into a pint pot and yet again as is his and LBHs style, being more than economical with the actuality.I just wish they would be straight, open and honest. It might not make it any better but the bull just shows the contempt these people have for residents who live here and want to remain here.
