If we collectively understood that services cost money and that means paying more in tax then these things could be avoided. Why most of our politicians keep banging on about being a low tax economy nothing will change. Governments don't have money of their own, they have to levy taxes, we have to decide, do we want to keep money in our pockets, and pay individually for what we need, which will exclude so many, or do we all pay in in the form of taxes and support decent public services for all? In spite of what the government says you cannot do more for less, and you can only be 'efficient' so far. The example you have given is not the norm, and anyway according to the government's claims all thee examples are at an end with their draconian sanctions regime, you also forget that although housing benefit is now capped, private landlords are the biggest beneficiaries of the country's welfare bill!
