Advertising at Brentford Lock

It seems the lovely wooden bridge at Brentford Lock is becoming an advertising hoarding, with big banners from Time and Siracusa - are they paying for this prime site advertising?  It looks awful and cheapens an area that has had so much money spent on its development.

I sent an email to Rachel.Victor-Sampson@hounslow.gov.ukand coincidentally saw her briefly in the high st afterwards. She had received my email. I have had no response and the banners are still up. That did a lot of good then.

Why dont you mention it to the two owners? Both places are nice and the owners may tell you the truth. They may actually pay for it, or this could be somethings for local businesses to do to advetise.

Because I'm wrong !.Just reminding myself of this, yes planning permission for the permanent use of the building for A3 (restaurant/cafe) purposes was refused in May 2013, however under newly introduced legislation at the same time it is possible for an office use (the building was previously lawfully used as an office) to be converted to a restaurant/cafe use for a period of 2 years, as long as the owner notifies the Council first, which in this case was done on 15th July 2013, so infact the building can be lawfully used as a restaurant/cafe until 15th July 2015.So I apologise and hold my hands up to being completely wrong, the temporary use is actually lawful at the moment.  Sorry.

I have Vanessa, and to be fair I don't find Hounslow any worse than any other of the Councils I regularly deal with, although that isn't exactly a glowing endorsement !.

Have you tried dealing with planning at Hounslow recently? Nightmare doesn't even come close, that's if they deign to answer you in the first place. And don't think getting hold of the Chair of the Planning committee will help either. Like most of his colleagues on Hounslow Council he's obviously lost the  use of his fingers, why they wasted public money on giving councillors i-pads I will never know, they seem extremely reluctant to use them.

To be fair it isn't really anything to do with her, as her role as Town Centre Manager has nothing to do with enforcing breaches of planning controls, which such signage is as the signs aren't on business premises.So really any concern/complaint needs to be directed to the Planning Enforcement Team for the Council to take this further, although abit of joined up thinking could solve this much easier simply by the Town Centre Manager popping into the relevant premises to warn them of the complaints and how, if the signage remains, she'll pass it onto the enforcement team.If we want consistency though I'll remind people again that the Goodfellas sandwich bar at the corner of Layton Road/Ealing Road is completely unauthorised and a retrospective planning application was refused last year (never appealed), yet no-one ever complains about it/brings it up with anyone from the Council.
