Syon Lane zebra crossing

I see the zebra crossing outside Syon Lyon station is to be replaced with a traffic light crossing - about time I've seen countless near misses on the crossing and surprised no-one's bee killed along there.

I am afraid that, that is a no go. Just let them instal the traffic lights and a Warning sign to motorists coming from Busch Corner.

Or get rid of the crossing altogether and the poor people will have to walk to the main lights at Gillette and Syon corners. Also while we're at it get rid of the Green school bus stops, as what's the point of them as they are yards away from the Syon Lane stops and cause congestion, frustration and near misses.

This problem could have been resolved long ago if the Metropolitan Police Service (Traffic Division), Tfl and LBH, had worked together. I too have had several near misses simply because the traffic coming from Busch Corner is:1.Traffic is traveling too fast.2. Motorists are oblivious to a traffic crossing being ahead as there is no warning sign advising them to slow down and that pedestrians were crossing 3. Some motorists who are new to the are are oblivious to the fact that people are using a zebra crossing to cross the road.4. Instal CCTV.If the aforementioned bodies simply put up a big sign to warn motorists that a pedestrian crossing was ahead.

More like drivers on mobile phones! I use the crossing twice a day during the week, and I can honestly say I have a near miss at least once a week! The crossing is an absolute hazard, on the top of a bridge, on a bend ( coming from Busch corner ). Plus drivers aggressive, discourteous  attitudes don't help! I've been halfway across and drivers continue to drive on! Glad they're moving it. Although, (traffic wise) it would make much more sense to extend the train platform under the bridge to come up the the other side of the road to avoid the Sky employees disembarking  and Gillette corner traffic fiasco.

...and if the pedestrian is on a mobile phone they often don't look, step out and walk away with their back to the oncoming traffic seemingly oblivious to having stepped out into a road.

I also think the zebra crossing needs improving.  The stream of pedestrians coming off the trains demonstrates the draw of the big businesses on the golden mile, and the success of the area, which is lovely to see especially at Syon Lane which always looks so quiet otherwise.  The trouble with the zebra crossing is pedestrians do not stop and look for the driver to stop but they walk with their back to the driver then swivel and step straight out.  How cycles manage to stop in time is amazing.  I often find myself having to anticipate a swivelling pedestrian so slow and stop only to have them carry on along the pavement ....

I agree that is a dodgy location just there by Syon Lane Station....the bridge and the road so narrow with, at times, a convoy of people appearing from all directions... often in a hurry,Your posting reminds me of the time at 5am one morning when Concorde squeezed past Syon Lane Station on it's roller skates... on it's way to Isleworth Dock.  Thankfully there weren't too many pedestrians around.

Plus the traffic gets held up for ages every time a train arrives. Pelican crossing will work much better.
