Coffee shop//eateries on Soaphouse creek

What is anyone's opinion of a coffee/eatery near Soaphouse creek mporing ferry lane?I see loTs of dog walkers and people walkinG down there......But there is no were to sit, Have a coffee and people watch.....

They've given up with the former San Carlo restaurant and it's being converted into flat(s)I think you could get a coffee at the Turkish restaurant (and maybe Poppadums). They are nice people and the restaurant is good so any extra trade would be welcome I'm sure.As a Ferry Quays resident, yes I very much hope the opening up of the Thames path will increase passing 'traffic'. The council have also agreed to improve the little path down from Morrisons to FQ and I believe that will be done this year so may tempt some more walkers.

I think Paul is right. It's lovely by the water in ferry quays but without the Thames path people just won't notice it. Both restaurants are huge so they look even more empty even when they've got people in. There used to be another one, which has the builders in at the moment so we will see what happend there.

Hopefully this will change once the Thames Path is opened up along the waterfront past the new apartment buildings.

Adam is right that whole development has no life or atmosphere.  The Turkish and Indian restaurants both struggle for customers and others have not survived very long.  The St John grocery store halved in size and eventually gave up trading.Residents either just come the front door or drive straight into the basement.

To me there simply isn't the level of passing trade to support such a business.  Not directly comparable but I noted the other day that there's a current planning application to convert the Old Fire Station into flats.

true, but I think the lay out of Soaphouse creek for commerical businesses is not great, plus rent and rates are huge there. I know that Poppadom is trying to sell up, but no can afford their price + the rent.....I think there is a Cafe across the road called Rumbles, but the views are not that great to Soaphouse creek, maybe takeaway.....

There is nothing at all wrong with "time" Reg.......but it is up the other enD of the High road.......and it wouled be nice for the walkers and residents @ Soaphouse creek to have some were to have a nice coffee or a bit to eat....Don't you think?
