Putting things into perspective

Having spent a really miserable weekend after the election went west from our point of view, Monday morning brought real upset for us. Our beloved little cat Lennie was taken ill with breathing difficulties, having rushed over to the vet we then had to rush him to the vet hospital in Hayes for X-rays etc. Our darling boy passed away just over an hour later from what looked like a lung tumour, in spite of valiant efforts to resuscitate him, he was only nine and was a real character, we shall miss him so much.

Thank-you so much - people are so understanding at times like these, anyone who has pets knows how they worm their way into your heart and leave a huge hole behind. Our Len was a funny little thing, all small black and fluffy with the most beautiful plume for a tail, the face of an absolute angel and the temperament of a ratbag. We lost count of the rodent corpses we found thanks to his midnight ramblings, he would never be cuddled without protesting very loudly, and was absolutely disgusted if you kissed him. The fact that he didn't suffer at all is a comfort for which we are very thankful. We are very grateful to the wonderful vets at Animals Are Us both at Feltham and Hayes for their care and support.

So sorry to hear about your beloved Lennie.  I have so much enjoyed reading about his exploits over the years and he came across as quite a character. Our 'lovely Brian'  (so called because he was born on Christmas Day and well it would have been rude not to as I was working with the team at Handmade at the time ) was absolutely terrified of being outside and would have been in total awe of fearless Lennie.  Although he was quite old when he died, I still cried buckets. Whilst your beloved Lennie didn't suffer, it is still heartbreaking for you and I am so sorry for your sad loss.

The other two, T.J. and former stray Bruno are still with us, T.J. is fifteen now and has realised Lennie is missing, so he needs lots more cuddles to reassure him. Unfortunately these two do not get on and are kept apart.

It does put it in perspective. So sorry. We lost our Candy the year before last and our Floss just 9 months ago and our worlds 'stopped' on both occasions. I even lost my appetite for days afterwards. We still miss them terribly and I think I know what you are going through

No, not daft, a bit soft maybe.When Sammy and William our labs passed on from old age I blubbed like a baby. Same as when I held Patrick our JRT while the vet administered 'the shot' to relieve him of the pain from his failed liver and kidneys.You need cheering up. Into flowers? Get over to the Isabella Plantation in Richmond. I was there this morning and I have never, ever, seen it look so vibrant and colourful. It will lift your spirits.

Thank-you both so very much, I know people who don't have animals think people like us are daft, but our Len was so much a part of the family for nine years, there will be a big gap in our home now.
