Transport and history buffs: This weekend's Acton Town show
Flicking through this week's edition of Whats On magazine..page 24..there is a model of the Edwardian (1901-1910)road scene at Kew Bridge. It shows the fountain in place, the Express Pub,the Water Tower, the adjacent houses and shops...and more importantly for transport anoraks(!)..the tramlines and trams and horse-drawn buses. What a gem.The interesting London Transport Museum Acton depot ..located across the road from Acton Town Station...opens only at certain times. This weekend it is open 11am till 5pm and there is an entrance fee. There are exhibits galore..model railways and trams galore, running miniture railways..and of course the regular display of London Transport historical underground rolling stock. We are spoilt in this region of the world...so much to see and do...and the Kew Steam Museum has live action and its birthday celebration the following weekend. Thank you Whats On magazine.
