Last year the tidy town service was free, within limits, but this year it is £40 charge up to 5 items and £8 for each item over that. I saw somewhere that you can take one van load of rubbish to the tip for free, each year. The web site isn't easy to check the best way to get rid of rubbish. We use the tip at Kew quite regularly and the workers there are very helpful and cheery. I have also just taken asbestos to the site near IKEA after checking on line what to do with it (old airing cupboard doors lined in asbestos). This had to be paid for by weight. The people doing this dumping would probably not use any of the normal recycling sites even if the web site were clearer and it appears that home owners having builders dispose of rubbish just turn a blind eye as to where it will end up. Without proper checking of these 'dumpling hotspots' you cannot say if the rubbish is even from this borough. If the rubbish recycling people could not use cameras to maintain their sites at Homebase and Morrisons then they probably can't be bothered to use cameras on other dump sites.
