Still can't agree if we take the report as it stands. In simple terms, it would appear someone has been assaulted. Just like I was assaulted by a member of the public when I worked as a Council officer, and just like sadly people are assaulted by other people every day. There is no direct correlation between this assault and any alleged or actual corruption in the planning system. It's an awful thing to happen, but as you appear to acknowledge the assault doesn't seem to have been in any way encouraged by Councillors or Officers, and as the article itself acknowledges the Council have consistently refused the developer's applications. In essence some idiot loses the plot and assaults someone else. Happens every day, on the streets, on the roads, etc. Yes, perhaps indicative of the times, but that's a general comment applicable to society nowadays as a whole, nothing more nothing less.Just because idiot Bloggs driving a car punches poor cyclist on the roads doesn't mean the highway system is broken and everyone driving a car is a thug. Yet that's what your opening post and the headline alludes to.Based solely on the article, I can't intend or imply any defence of LBE Planning Department or Councillors, but equally nor can I see how any allegation can be intended or implied either, as you have done. To put it another way, were I at that site visit as either an Officer or a Councillor and had I then seen your post, I'd have been taking legal advice.
