Recycling Questionnaire

I have just received a letter from Cllr Amrit Mann asking me to access an on-line questionnaire regarding my opinion of wheelie bins. I assume that this letter has gone out to many households in the borough. Unfortunately when I try to access the online questionnaire website given in the letter I get the following message:"This survey is currently closed. Please contact the author of this survey for further assistance."I wonder what was the cost of sending out so many letters?JL.

Unfortunately not enough people stand up and shout about the lack facilities, or do anything when they see that somewhere is being abused by selfish and irresponsible people.  It means less funds to spend on other facilities - facilities that others more needy could do with.

A town with over 12,000 residences should surely have its own properly supervised recycling and refuse centre.Those who wish could therefore deliver their own waste and not have to have worry about people coming to collect it... and having to store waste when they don't want to. The Council says on its website,or did, that they have recycling places all over the borough. When you investigate these you find that perhaps they only accept brown glass or suchlike!  Who would have thought that the Inverness Club is listed to take your recycling in their bins.  It's a joke.Shame that Morrison's Supermarket ceased to cater for many people's needs.  But then the likes of that Decorator chap dumping his paint tins and brushes in the Plastic Packaging bin ruined it all for us.

I have left out loads of clothing for recycling and it has never been taken so I ended up going to the tip with all of it (over a suitcase full). It says to put it in a carrier bag, which I did, and leave it with normal recycling, again which I did but nothing. I too am lucky enough to have somewhere to store my wheelie bin and yes it has been a godsend, but the state of the road after collections of all of the rubbish is still dire, they still throw the bins from the road onto your property (have witnessed it numerous times)then take forever to send you a new bin. I have been refused a new green bag even though they left it outside my property and the wind took it to god knows where? It galls me how they can insist that you must leave your rubbish out a certain time/place but they can dump your bags/boxes anywhere... Makes me so angry!!

Yes it would appear that very few people use the food waste bin. I am not sure what happens in other boroughs but it would seem that people in Hounslow are generally lazy or slack about recycling and the wheelie bins have unfortunately encouraged laziness

Unfortunately wheelie bins fail to actually DO the recycling for people.  That is what the majority of people mean by wanting a system that is easy - not having to do anything.Rates go up when more information is directed at individual households. You can't tell readily what is in a wheelie bin.It is a shame that there wasn't a bigger campaign to encourage people to use the facilities already provided which Council Tax payers are paying for especially the food waste bin.

Philippa, this is Hounslow Council you are y talking about. And its the environment dept handling this. Surely you didn't expect them to put any thought into the process? That would be unprecedented.However I find it quite sad that the results so far indicate that people using the wheelie bins are recycling less than when they used black bags

I did it last night. I believe I was the 144th or 149th person to have completed it. The link in the letter worked fine for me. The results / opioion percentages on  each question were quite interesting I thought.

"That link works, the one given on the letter doesn't - can't they get anything right?"My link is an exact copy of the link in the letter, which has worked since about 3pm today.  Perhaps you added the full stop at the end of the sentence containing the link?The questionnaire isn't too loaded, and there's a space to add whatever comments you want to make.

That link works, the one given on the letter doesn't - can't they get anything right? The problem with these 'surveys' is that the questions are pretty loaded. We love our wheelie but then we have room for it around the back, and a side alley to wheel it out on collection day. Not everyone is in the same position, we'd like another for plastic, we seem to sink under the bloody stuff! What would really be good is if the refuse crews didn't sling the refuse containers all over the damned road.
