Having done the rounds over the last few weeks I have come across a few people who don't have polling cards and indeed I had a phone call tonight from someone who was very agitated about not having his, and saying many others had the same problem. The Labour party will have tellers at the polling stations tomorrow and the Tories probably will also. I guess that will help us to gauge whether there is a real problem here or just isolated mistakes. Of course the electoral registration system has changed and that could have lead to people being disenfranchised, as has been widely predicted. It is of course true that you can vote without a card if you're on the register but not everyone knows that, not everyone has the confidence, and not everyone knows where their polling station is.The Labour party has tried to leaflet everywhere at least once. We are unable to leaflet some of the blocks (eg GWQ, Regatta Point, part of Holland Gardens) because the building management won't allow us. It's possible we may have overlooked a few others: if so, apologies.Big day tomorrow: bedtime!
