Helicopter hovering over Brentford at night

The helicopter that regularly plagues South Ealing and Brentford residents with night-time noise was back last night, worse than ever. For over an hour, until after 11.30 p.m. it circled and hovered, stopping people from sleeping with its infernal racket. In the past I have tried - and failed - to find out what this helicopter is about. Does anyone know anything? Is it police? Traffic? Military? We have noise regulations for night-time planes, but this helicopter seems to be allowed to keep people awake (sometimes even at 1 and 2 in the morning) with impunity.

Although given the wonderful weather we have had recently anyone growing it in their loft is a twat(assuming they are looking for an infra-red heat signature at night).If they are looking for it in the daytime, best to move it into your loft.Hope that helps all the cannabis growers out there.

I do believe that there are some occasions where police helicopters have just searched for cannabis farms rather than assisted in an emergency.

Aggressive (if that's what you want to call it) because, quite frankly, I find both your and Margaret's posts about the helicopter rather stupid and selfish. Your desire for sleep (and mine) rather pales into insignificance compared with the reasons why the helicopter has been hovering over our streets recently.  As I say, what if it was a member of your family who disappeared near Kew Bridge ?.  Or been assaulted and kidnapped ?.  I'm sure you'd (quite rightly) go ballistic if the police said they weren't going to call the helicopter out because they didn't want to wake anyone up.It's surely bloody well obvious that a police helicopter isn't hovering above our streets for the fun of it ?!.

Goodness me, why so aggressive? I'm glad to hear that last night's incident was satisfactorily resolved. I wonder why there are such an awful lot of such incidents around here.

Police, Chiswick RNLI lifeboat crew and a team from London Fire Brigade saved the man from falling into the river at Kew Bridge. Yes, the police deliberately joyride in their helicopters over the streets where you live because they've got nothing better to do than disturb you.FFS stop your complaining - the helicopter is flying for a reason, last night it was seemingly relating to an incident on Kew Bridge, afew weeks back it was because of the alleged GBH/kidnapping incident.  Were it you or one of your family involved in such incidents you'd be so grateful for that helicopter, rather than selfishly complaining about a slight disturbance to your night.I really really despair of some people, yes it is irritating, but it arises out of awful incidents which make it necessary to be there.
