Brentford Festival

Can anyone enlighten me as to why the 'Brentford' Festival takes place in Northfields in the borough of Ealing? Surely it should be in Brentford we have various locations which I'm sure would suit - St Paul's Recreation Ground for one?

What Raymond says basically Martin - Hounslow has a problem with events which are community-led and the people who organise this magnificent event are community people to the core.Where events can be managed or led by those who are "in with the in crowd" LBH is perfectly willing to promote, assist and even throw money at them.  It's a control thing.

In response to the above posts... is it not strange that there seems to be no Editorial mention or publicity on TW8.com for the finest local event held annually by the Brentford Festival Committee.Thousands and thousands attend annually.... but hardly a peep so far for next weekend's event from this website.

In a nutshell, the councils parks contract was going to charge the earth and the council wanted to control the event.Ealing stepped in and the venue is great, Better than Boston Manor Park in various ways. And it is right on the edge of Brentford in anycase.

I doubt that site would be anywhere near big enough Martin. I think the crux of the reason that it was moved out of borough is due lbh moving the goal posts and insisting on certain extra staffing and other measure to be put in place and of course the commensurate charges that all that ensues. I don't know the minutae of it but others on here do I'm sure. It's all part of hounslow councils initiative to disregard what people want and enjoy doing and having to have control of everything when it should get its own house in order viv a vis controlling its own departments first.
