Griffin  Park area - turning restrictions

Hounslow Council want to introduce no entry and mandatory turns on event days in roads near Brentford Football Club: http://www.hounslow.gov.uk/p036-15_noi_consultation_doc.pdf No consultation with local residents?

The one big problem is that these proposals have not factored in the closure of Albany Road ( Which I understand claimed it's first casualty on wednesday with a cyclist using the pavement colliding with an elderly person and causing injury.The cyclist apologised and sped off.There are no signs so as far as the cyclist was concerned, she was free to use the pavement to detour the blockade.This has to be taken more seriously and properly.This blockade will seriously hamper emergency access and it's implications considered in the closures on matchdays.

The Police always used discretion and with many officers well experienced in such events, they are usually very flexible. Usually just some proof of residency was enough.That is now even easier as the BRS permit should more than suffice.But BFC?LBH need to address this and reassure residents. Especially as with Albany road blocked off in a weeks time this will have the potential to completely gridlock residents in and out of their home neighbourhood for hours at a time.

Right. I've finally found some time to read the leaflet that BFC (whom I don't particularly like due to their frequent ignorance towards residents - their neighbours) sent to the residents.In the very end the letter says:"During the closure times we would be happy should a resident wish to leave their house or return permit this subject to it being safe to do so".So may be it is not going to be that bad at the end of the day.

This was only a proposal.It will force a huge amount of local traffic into Brook Road and Lateward Road and probably block Albany road in both directions at the junction by the closed pub.With 2 90 degree turns in Lateward road and a school main entrance and a park entrance which is a dedicated cycle route this has to be the most completely insane idea ever. It will create a far more dangerous situation and could block up residential roads in the rush hour.Making Albany one way only at Alexandra road would have been far safer and less convalutedAs for the rest of the proposal it was completely insane.  It will also make Morrisons almost impossible to get to for anyone east of the store and add to the already congested High Street.

It is nothing to do with the police Stuart, Metropolitan Police are not responsible for traffic management on match days, it is Brentford FC's traffic management company

I can't comment on Brentford's 'policing' arrangements, but I can tell you contractors DO police the restrictions in this area around the RFU, no police to be seen, so Brentford could do the same as it might be cheaper than the real thing.

I may be wrong but I think you will find that Brentford FC had no input over these restrictions, the directive would have come from local police and Hounslow Council.Brentford FC are only responsible for what happens inside the ground with regards to policing, outside of the ground is purely a police matter.

The Albany Road end by Alexandra Rd will be closed for cars etc, as was planned when the old Health centre became an annex for St Paul's school. This was to make safe movement of pupils from one site to another. At most times you can read a few pages of a book before the next car comes along can not see the point of closing the road.

Having read the order it is  only slightly different from what the Police have always done over the last 30 years.The difference being the Police have always allowed residents access.But 2 hours prior seems rather excessive.What is missing is that this needs to allow permit holding residents access to New Road  and to Breamar road with only a blanket restriction at the very peak time before and after the game.Otherwise BFC need to reinburse every permit holder who is deprived of using the permit they are paying for which covers matchdays and arrange parking for those who are displaced by thier actions.

I think it is a complete disgrace that the Football club has not consulted or leafleted all the streets that will be affected. There is a pathetic almost unreadable notice on one lampost in Clifden road.As we are now all paying for permits it is obvious that not only will a great many residents not have access to their home streets, there will also be so many displaced vehicles that we will be back to the same problems during matchdays..nowhere to park.There is also a sign at the end of Albany Road which declares that Back Lane is to be closed to traffic from 7th Sept. No explanation as to why, by whom and for how long.However, with these matchday restrictions, this will effectively completely block access for several hundred residents and probably gridlock the outer area. No mention either of how long the exclusion will be for.Will BFC be compensation those who will be affected who work on saturdays and  on call in the area?Strange that a Council puts up all sorts of reasons on H&S and legal issues when a street applies for a closure for a street party etc but when it comes to BFC or the RFU anything goes.

Given the current plans for road closures around the RFU stadium for the RWC, and wondering if these aren't a foretaste of things to come, you have to ask what is it with Hounslow Council and closing roads off? It is also a worry that this is going to be 'policed' by contractors who have no legal powers. What happened to looking after residents? Are we all supposed to rollover for sports events regardless? A one off, as with the Olympics is one thing, but when you live near a regularly used sporting venue there has to be a far better way to get a balance that is inclusive of all parties, not this insistence that people running around with a ball overrides any other considerations.

One I lived in my house in Brook Rd South we weren't allowed to park outside on match days, has this changed. If no it wouldn't effect the Brook Rd sth homeowners

Is that right? I no longer have the letter from the club telling of how match day traffic will in future be managed by them and not the police (or some such). I'm sure the letter said that vehicular access for residents will be allowed down Braemar at the discretion of the officialdom of the moment. Actually, I remember from way back when there used to be No Entry signs at either end of Braemar Road on match days so it will be something of a return to what was. Or maybe I don't quite 'get' the issue. Can anybody clarify what is going on please?

You are right Ian, no vehicular access to Braemar Road, New Road or the section of Brook Road South between Lateward Road and Clifden Road.

If I'm reading the plan right, there will be no vehicle access to Braemar Road from ANY direction.Do the council not realise that people live there?
