Verdict Bakery, Brentford

A new venture opening up in the old Magistrates Court.  Called a bakery but applied for a liquor licence.  The sign in the window says it's opening early September.

Thanks for the tip off Reg that the Verdict is now open.  I really looked forward to my visit there this afternoon and it didn't disappoint.It hit the right spot for me..at that time of the day.They have a Breakfast menu till about 10.30am , a lunch menu, and afternoo tea menu, and the Dinner till quite late. I was amused to see entries on the Menu for 'Probation Platters' 'Minor Offenders' Accomplices' and so on.It was so handy to find a Brentford Town  spot where one could have a pot of tea (for me) and a glass of wine (for the lady I was with). So often we hit a pub and I have to settle for mineral water.One's arrival at the steps of the Magistrate's Court is very impressive (for Brentford Town anyway) with an arched entrance hall and seeing the Serving Counters ahead. The view from our table of the Market Square outside, the fountains, the horseshoe benches, and even the colourful shop fronts on County Parade was splendid.I understand a group from the Chamber of Commerce are there this evening and I'm sure they will be pleased the way the Town Square is evolving with La Rosetta nearby and the Thames Restaurant along the way.As Keith suggested the Boston Cafe continues to thrive and I have used it for over 40 years....mind you Ron has long gone..but his daughters still run the show... for an inexepensive tea and sandwich..and be away in less than 10 minutes!Verdick Bakery phone number 0203 6450785

The cafe on the end of Albany Parade  does a great bacon sandwich and a fantastic range of fry up brekkies.It's something that I do as a rare treat, but given half the chance would do every day!!I might be lucky enough to eat in michelin star restaurants ( through work mostly) but there is something really special and satisfying about a well cooked fresh english fry up!

Wife and I went to the market on Sunday for breakfast for a change. 'Best bacon sandwich' in town (which it isn't) with some weird mushroom sauce £5, and a triple shot Americano £2.70 which was ok. Nice to see a couple of people to chat with there.Boston Cafe, unpretencious sandwich bar by the station bacon sandwich with 3 rashers £ 2.00 and a small cup of proper strong leaf tea 50p.

Thanks for the heads up on that news.The application for trading  there suggests it's going to add greatly to the Town Centre.An artisan bakery and selling hot and cold food for consumption on or off the premises..with covers for some 60/70 on the ground floor and some 20+ up on the balcony.To see La Rosetta packed the other night, and Samis and the Thames Restaurant popular too...we can wish them all well for the future.
