Nothing like a British Custard tart, which is nothing like the ones found in Supermarkets and are now so rare. Made properly, the humble british custard tart is as good as any continental variant.Portuguese ones are nice but the Verdict ones are 9 times the price of the ones you can buy anywhere in Lisbon. Any higher and it would be cheaper to take Ryanair and by a crate of them and sell them at the market! But where is the great British regional fare and baking that seems to have vanished long ago, replaced by the homogenised efforts of United Biscuits and factory bakeries.Maybe they should have custard tart week with all the variants from around the world.Better put West Mid on alert.
