Are you prepared with your reusable bags?

At last we will be joining the rest of the country and having to pay for those single use bags that are only used for such a short time.I watched a builder the other walk back from the shop with a drink and sandwich which he started eating so he didn't actually use it to go for a 5 min journey. There are always rogue carrier bags and other plastic bags that seem to manage to creep into the house around bananas or apples or potatoes.Once I bought something on ebay and to my complete horror found that there were loads of carrier bags used as packaging around the item. This was just as I was trying not to take them and always reuse them - Recycling being only one stop short of landfill and Reduce and Reuse coming first in the waste hierarchy. In fact just tonight someone came for supper and asked for the carrier bag that they brought with them back "as it is worth 5p"!I've been known to sellotape over the holes in bags so that they are weatherproof.  Shoes that I put into the shoebank are sometimes tied together with string or plastic nets rather than bagged if a banana or bread bag isn't big enough.Interesting item on recycling plastic film here - South London recycler seeks plastic film to recycle:www.letsrecycle.comand today something from the Government Minister about all the different types of recycling collections Councils have and how it would be easier if more of them were the same.http://www.letsrecycle.com/news/latest-news/stewart-bids-to-end-madness-around-recycling-regimes/http://www.letsrecycle.com/news/latest-news/council-concerns-remain-as-bag-recycler-seeks-material/

I am left wondering what to use instead of carrier bags in the recycling green box ...shoes? ...clothes?  Do I just place them in loose?
