Huge Rats.

I've not noticed any rats running around for quite a while but in just a week I have seen them all over Brentford.Last night in Ealing Road several near the new Gym and Leyton Road,Earlier in the week saw two huge ones near the Market Square in the early evening.A dead one in Grosvenor Road, another dead one by Alexandra Road/High Street and several running about near the corner of Alexandra Road and Albany Road.Anyone else noticed this?   I loathe the things but rarely ever see them around here.

I think, on balance particularly as they carry disease and destroy the nests and eat the food left out for small garden birds, that rats are called 'vermin' for a very good reason and should be disposed of wherever found, particularly in urban areas. Grey squirrels too, althought they do not carry disease but will dominate a garden environment if given the chance and birds have little or no chance.And yes, I am an animal lover too but I stick up for the underdog ( npi) ie: the small garden birds which are indigenous or at least not harmful to other species.

Whilst not wishing to underplay the risks to human health rats carry (my father was seriously ill with suspected weil's disease afew years back), and out in the sticks where my parents live we have had to resort to poison from time to time, being the animal lover that I am I like to see animals of all kinds, be they foxes, rats, squirrels, pigeons etc. as well as cats and dogs in the urban environment.

I quite often see loads of rats in the bushes near the Gillette building as I drive home from Tescos. There seems to be a huge nest of them - no doubt supplied with food from fast food leftovers thrown on to the grass. Makes for an interesting few minutes while waiting for the lights to change.

What's to like about rats ?...still, I'm not surprised. I would imagine the canal and the river encourage rats. I get the odd one in my garden as I live near the canal. They snaffle the bird food if given half a chance and I have disposed of a few dozen over the years. Report this to lbh Raymond.

Not seen one in ages, although to be fair I haven't walked further into Brentford than McDonalds for weeks.No doubt I'm in the minority but I like to see them....
