A CURE FOR DIABETES,?

Interesting article reveals that a man has been cured of ,class one diabetes . simple introduction of a cell being inserted into his body has it that he is now free of needing insulin injections. I wonder how long it will now take to cure the rest of the population that suffer from this unpleasant disorder ?

Presumably , like heart transplants and bypasses it will become a routine matter in a few years . Certainly once fully operational it will save the NHS millions in drugs etc, that have to be administered on a daily basis, the costs will be cut drastically if these operations are completely successful. It would also free up a huge number of hospital beds.

It is marvellous news but the islet cells that are required for transplant have to come from the pancreas of deceased people, and that man had to have 3 transplants! Scientists are trying to see if they can produce man made cells, which if they succeed could possibly see the end of this disease.

CbarlesIf it's true, it's wonderful news and if the treatment doesn't have any adverse side effects, the sooner the better I'd say.
