Watching Brentford More Expensive Than Arsenal

There is a very good article on the price of tickets at football grounds across the country. One surprising fact it uncovers is that you can actually pay less for watching Arsenal at the Emirates that you would to see Brentford at Griffin Park. A category C game for them will have seats available at £27 against the cheapest priced tickets of £28 for Brentford. I'm not a Brentford fan but I have been to see them quite regularly over the last couple of decades because I enjoy lower league football and will often take in a game if I am free for the weekend. Last Christmas holidays we had visitors and thought it might be a good idea but when we worked out the cost it was shockingly expensive.They are very anxious to present themselves as a community club but these ticket prices undermine that. I am aware of the good work that the club does in the community and that junior tickets are much cheaper but they shouldn't forget that it is dad that it is paying and if he doesn't bring his kids to games there will be no next generation of fans. I understand that last season with the team being successful and Griffin Park close to capacity for every game there is no reason for them not to charge more. Digitisation is unavoidable as the margins on ticket sales will be much better and taking in lots of cash brings additional problems for many business although I do miss being able to take a notion on a Saturday lunch time and wander along to a game.I said I wasn't a fan but I have a lot of affection for Brentford as my kids derived great benefit from their community activities. There was an attempt to nudge them towards supporting the club but in recent years the club seems to have become third best value in West London for people like me who are casual attendees of games. It could be a marketing issue - I see interesting deals from Fulham and QPR. Just recently the latter had an offer on Groupon for tickets for £14 for the match with Sheffield Wednesday. The club is getting a bigger ground and therefore will need a bigger support base - they only way they can really grow that is bringing in the next generation of fans from the local area. At the moment the club don't seem to be particularly focused on this and it might cost them in the long term.

I go to midweek games if, and only if I can get back to Brentford in time from work. It is no longer possible to turn up and pay cash at the turnstile.I had to go online, remember my password and other details and on top of that print my own ticket at my expense.With all the extra 'late ' purchase charges and handling fees it came close to £30.I decided that was too much and won't go on the spur of the moment again.As it was they lost...again.If it's this costly now, with a poor performing team and a management system in chaos, then what are they planning to charge at Lionel Road?Last season was about right, underpinned by a great atmosphere generated by a great manager and team, at long last delivering both results and much improved football.This season the fans seem to be less valued and the digitisation of tickets and attendance has ostracised too many.

My ticket for the Ealing road terrace cost 20 quid for the QPR game . I spent 20 for the season as a member and get a fiver a game off if bought in advance.

I am sure that Brentford tickets must be cheaper then £28 as at QPR each game works out about £19 with my season ticket and there are cheaper ones than thatSaying that though I have a ticket in the away end for when we play at Brentford in a couple of weeks and I think that cost me about £28
