9pm BBC1  Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall's War on Waste

They won't unless we tell them that we want them to do this.  We'll always choose but their cosmetic standards are OTT.It is just like excess packaging.  We didn't say "No. Enough!" so we (or rather our Councils) ended up with masses to deal with.

Some of those apples were too red and rosy and others were too pale.  So they were rejects!

Morrisons have now said that they will give their excess food away to charities.Too late for the farmer who spoke up though and there is a lot of waste in the supply chain.The petition now stands at 116,000+ and continuing.https://www.change.org/p/stop-the-rot-end-supply-chain-food-waste

I've always wondered why an apple , for example, is discarded by supermarket buyers because it looks like does,like an apple should which is not necessarily a uniform shape. After all you wouldn't throw it away if it grew on a tree in your garden. This applies to all fruit and veg.It's ridiculous. Surely it's taste that matters and not shape..

All those lovely parsnips going to waste and we have people needing to use food banks.http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p036x83y?We haven't asked for this.  We just haven't complained and not complaining doesn't mean that that is what we want.Change is needed.
