We could see thick black smoke coming from somewhere towards the brentford lock area from our office window.

"...the Police were going up & down in a van with a loudhailer on the roof advising the public to get indoors asap & keep windows/doors shut due to there being aspestos in the air!"Great, I was walking around in it for nearly three hours!

Pheasants Jim? Surely you mean Peacocks!!On a more serious note I was in Brentford High St a short while after the fire had started & the Police were going up & down in a van with a loudhailer on the roof advising the public to get indoors asap & keep windows/doors shut due to there being aspestos in the air!I live in Layton Road & you could smell/ taste something in the air for a number of hours after the incident.

Nobody harmed thank goodness..but what a huge plume of horrible looking smoke travelling easterly over Brentford.I was travelling down from Gillette Corner at 2.50pm..and could see the black clouds clearly..and was concerned like everyone else. There were still four fire engines and some 30+ firefighters there at 6.30 tonight. The fire was probably under control but teams were still entering the scene in their masks and protective clothing. The photo on the front page of the Forum was taken very promptly by someone....and shows the red tubing structure which is a shower facility for firefighters ..when they come out of the fire zone. Still wearing their protective gear..they cool and clean down there.Shame that the old Banqueting areas have been badly damaged..as I remember the Camellia Rooms Restaurant in the 70's and 80's (host to Round Table meetings) It was an attractive location to dine...with the pheasants wandering in the garden outside. The Fire Brigade Press Liaison Officer issue a press release...reminding all residents that...."Fire do occur...thus rendering the need for every household to have smoke alarms....properly fitted"..and check that it has a battery. Smoke is the killer!

I was in the York Road area - a good distance from Syon Park - some two hours after the fire started and I was still breathing in smoke and being showered with ash. I'm just thankful that it turned out to be a disused building because I had feared for the children at Snakes and Ladders.

I just this second heard on the news that there is a fire at Syon Park and they are advising people to stay away from Brentford high Street due to the smoke!
