with no politics please, but a third runway at Heathow or not?

Today's Evening Standard carried one of their false front page things (ie a big advert) saying that a third runway at Heathrow will make already frequently 'illegal' levels of pollution almost continuously illegal.  Is this true? and if it is then why is anyone even entertaining the idea of a third runway? If it's illegal then you can't do it - simple.I also read somewhere that Hounslow council has stopped objecting to the third runway.  Why? aren't they suppose to act in the best interests of the population of Hounslow?

Apparently the word 'illegal' is not all that accurate when referring to air pollution levels.  The correct word is 'dangerous' as the maximum air pollution limits are those beyond which there is significant danger to health.

Toxic levels are said to be 125% the levels of EU maximum levels. Bosses of Heathrow and the Government Airport Commission are set to be questioned today on the environmental impact of the runway. The Airports Commission has previously said that the environmental impact does not outweigh benefits and steps will be taken such as greener aircraft and reforms on driving to the airport. Heathrow airport says it ‘takes air quality issues very seriously’.

The Hounslow stance on a possible third runway is certainly confusing at the moment and for some reason they have refused to join the local coalition that our neighbouring Boroughs have formedI think the biggest problem with our local Labour councillors and also MPs in Hounslow is that so many of them have to jump to whatever tune the Unite union whistle and of course thousands of workers at Heathrow are membersI recall attending a meeting on the subject our famous ex MP`s the Keens held at the Robeson Thheatre where they shared the stage with a leading Unite troublemaker who threated all sorts against them if they in anyway objected to another runway and they were both like rabbits caught in headlightsIt was a great meeting actually held on a Saturday morning with Alan Keens son acting as head of security at the door vetting who was allowed in or not and myself and Jim Lawes plus my Wife were refused entry at first because we refused to give the Labour "security" our full names and address`s plus proof as well until they relented when we said we would go back in to the Treaty Centre and let everyone know what was happening.
