Well done Heathrow Custom's doggy: whopping drugs find..
So as the British Airways flight from Nigeria came into Heathrow on Monday morning at 5am...no doubt disturbing the sleep of some local residents...the newly trained dog was at the ready to sniff around the passsengers and suitcases in the Terminal building...perhaps much to the annoyance of some of the passsengers!Sniff, sniff around the suitcases...and suddenly the dog's nose twitches at a first-class passenger's trolley. The Nigerian businessman was thus stopped in the Green channel...his baggage opened as he couldn't remember where the keys were(!)...and the story is that some 30 kilos of cocaine was found.....apparently worth over £2,000,000 at street value. It was apparently the biggest find for some 5 years. After appearing at Uxbridge Court, the offended will thereafter perhaps appear in sunny Isleworth Crown Court...and then..if found guilty..he will be a yet another addition to the UK's prison population. And presumable if he gets 10 years or more..we'll be paying..you and I!!What is of concern...is that because staff are low in numbers...when Customs officers and others are diverted to all the activities surrounding a CAUGHT passenger....other suspects are perhaps passing the Terminal building unchallenged. So, a great catch..but more resources needed to catch the others too.Well done doggy!!
