Perhaps not in my right mind - after all I put myself up for councillor and fought like crazy to get elected which doesn't sound entirely rational - but I would happily cycle down Alexandra Road. Not sure I will though, because it doesn't help much with routes I take. It's a lot better than taking the footpath behind Berkeley House, which I have done on occasion but which ends with a high kerb in a difficult area of the High Street.I did question at the time whether it made sense but was told it addressed a known problem with people riding down Alexandra Road. This is not a problem I have personally observed, though I've seen one or two going the wrong way along Back Lane, which the changes will, if anything, encourage.I actually believe this short stretch of cycle lane is an experiment with the 'armadillo' humps. I have no idea whether they are 'hugely expensive': evidence please.I am actually supportive of the road/traffic team. I'm afraid whatever they do they will be vocally criticised but my experience is that they do listen and are dedicated to doing the right thing. They make mistakes sometimes, but don't we all?
