Disposing of old fridge and freezer

I need to get rid of an under counter fridge and also freezer, I have tried ringing the council to see if they (for a price) will pick them up but the battery on my phone died before they answered.  Does anyone know if Hounslow council offer this service or if I need to find an independent company to dispose of these items and if so any recommendations?

The fridge died about a year ago and the freezer is so ancient I wouldn't want to pass it on to anyone so donating is not an option.

Alas I don't think this will help you as you are not talking 'metals'. However, for future reference, Teddington Recyclers picked up my washing machine for free about five months ago.Their numbers for anybody who is interested are: 07707309778 and (020) 8274 2758.

You have said they are old but you haven't said whether they are working or not. The British Heart Foundation will collect working white goods.

Hounslow Council do have a collection service for bulky items but the charge is £40 or up to 5 items additional items £8 each item. Residents on Income related benefits are entitled to one free collection per year, Call Tidy Town on 0208 8583 2000.
