Vandalising Brentford's heritage brick by brick ...

Those interested in the latest chapter should click on ChiswickW4.com and look for the front page article entitled "Bid To Save Sarah Trimmer Hall From Redevelopment".    Sarah Trimmer was an important figure in the history of national educational reform, and was active in the Sunday School movement and in founding schools for the poor. She also gave birth to 12 children.Under the proposal, the building would be partially demolished and converted in a "destructive and inappropriate scheme", creating 3 small "duplex apartments". I think the good people of Brentford do care enough, sadly when protestations are made they seem to be completely ignored or as in Paul Slattery's case take a turn for the worse.

Begs the question why wasn't the article also posted on this site where it belongs? To be fair their is passing reference in Guy Lambert's column. Be that as it may, agreed, Val and James's research on this important building at very short notice is a tour de force of historical research (there is a .pdf link from the Chiswick W4 article). Brentford has lost so much of its heritage, a line must be drawn. But do the good people of Brentford care enough?

Thanks Sam - we had picked this up a few days ago - the proposals are an absolute disgrace, bunch of bloody Philistines even thinking of something like this. Talk  about is nothing sacred.
