Used Shoes

I have a number of pairs of worn running and walking shoes.  Rather than adding to landfill, I was hoping to donate them.  Are there any local groups collecting for Syria (or similar) who could make use of them?

Thanks both.  I would have used the recycling rather than landfill but had hoped they could be put to good use.

Agree with Kath.  Don't know what happens to them after being placed in the green recycling box.  Also, is it ok to place them loose in the box with laces tied together as we no longer have supermarket carrier bags ..?

If they're still wearable you can donate them to charity shops (Age UK or Friends of Cathja in Brentford). Otherwise you can put them in the Green Box for recycling.
